The Unconquerable Power of Forgiveness
During the Armenian atrocities many years ago, a young woman and her brother were overtaken. The brother was brutally murdered. The sister escaped as the brother was being slain. Later she was caught. Being a nurse, she was forced to work in a hospital.
One day a Turkish soldier was brought to the hospital. The sister recognized him as the soldier who had killed her brother. He was critically ill. Any slight inattention would have meant death. She, however, being a Christian, tenderly cared for him.
As the soldier convalesced, he recognized her. He asked, "How can you care for me so kindly and nurse me back to health? Why didn't you let me die?" She replied, "I am a follower of Him who said, ‘Love your enemies (and) do good to them’ ---." (Matt 5:44).
For a while, the soldier was speechless. Then he exclaimed, "I never knew there was such a religion! Tell me more about it! I want it!”
